Mommy’s Wardrobe Fail

Just because I am a mother, and a mother of two messy boys at that, does not mean that I want to live in fuzzy yoga pants and my hubby’s old t-shirts everyday. There are few things more satisfying than successfully leaving the house all dressed to the nines: make-up, a cute shirt and shoes with a little bit of a lift. I have recently bought a couple of really nice blouses that were polyester and kind of silky. They were shirts that I justified spending more money than usual on because they made me feel absolutely fabulous, and post two pregnancies, that’s important!
Well, I’ve learned my lesson. My favorite shirt, recently underwent three accidents…
1) Snagged on a sippy cup package
2) Snagged on a table
3) Snagged on the back of a chair

NOOOOOOO!!!!! This is what it looks like now…

I’ve been told that I could try and fix it, pulling a few more threads out to even it up a bit, but honestly, I’d just end up destroying it completely. When I used an iron on low heat, the wrinkles and bumps smoothed out but not completely. I will still wear this shirt but more carefully and now a little humbly.

So, until I’m no longer fighting open ridiculously hard sippy cup packages, chasing children around tables or carrying diaper bags with harsh velcro, I will refrain from buying the more expensive shirts. No matter how stinking cute they are…..

  1. I absolutely HATE when that happens!! I’ve been able to fix a few of my shirts that I’ve done this to, but it’s hard with the lines are so distinct. 🙁 I feel your pain.

Yeah it’s a total bummer! Glad you were able to fix you shirts! you’re right, if it didn’t have such distinct lines, I would try and fix it, but instead I will just wear it with clumsy pride!

  2. 🙁 I remember that happening with a delicate shirt when Connor was little. Now I don’t wear delicate clothing around my children! On a side note, what’s the deal with kid’s stuff always being covered in velcro?! I hate velcro and that’s what I caught my shirt on.

All my non-ruined nice clothes will stay away from my children, but at least i have a couple cute ones that are already messed up that I can wear around them! lol and yes, velcro sucks! It rips clothes and gets all full of fuzzies! I will take snaps, zippers and buttons any day!
