A Weekend Getaway to Cavallo Point with the Hubby!

I’m a little delayed in posting this, but I thought better late than never! A couple weekends ago, my amazingly super hubby booked us a night away at beautiful Cavallo Point in Sausalito, CA! We had never even heard of the place, but had found it’s charming pictures on Jetsetter.com when we were looking for hotels in San Francisco. We were much in need of an adult only 24 hours! So after dropping our lil’ man off at Nana’s, we headed off on our adventure!
We started off the day in Union Square in SF, for some wonderful retail therapy! The air was crisp and our pocket books were on a mission: Christmas Shopping. After a couple hours of wandering around enjoying each others company and a delicious Thai lunch, we had only bought a few treats for ourselves (oops) and our feet were barking! So we hopped into the car, scarfed down our delicious bag of sour patch kids and headed towards the Golden Gate Bridge!
Right before this weekend, a fellow blogger, Aimee at Afin and Grace, from our Blogging Your Way Ecourse wrote about her experience visiting this wonderful craft shop in Mill Valley right outside of Sausalito! Her review and pictures were so great, that I was so excited to visit a place I had read about on a blog I follow!
Here are the pictures from our visit to Once Around craft store….the hubby was awesome enough to help me take pictures so I could meander around lost in a glorious crafty haze!

After cruising around Sausalito, we stopped off for some yummy Italian food and then headed to our hotel just as a big storm was settling in! Though, not to worry, because me and the hubby love a good rain!

Cavallo Point was gorgeous! As it used to be an old military base, it felt like we stepped back in time! “In addition to being a member of Historic Hotels of America, this San Francisco luxury resort was named one of the “Top 10 New American Landmarks” by Travel+Leisure and also received LEED Gold Certification for its environmentally sustainable design and construction.”

We immediately fell in love with the place; it had that older charm that I love so much, mixed in with the modern feel my hubby likes! We stayed in one of the cottages that used to be officer quarters. As the rain POURED down in buckets, we bundled up and headed for the hotels restaurant to see what we could get for dessert! We found a very cozy spot on the front porch and cuddled up under heat lamps and blankets as our sweet waitress served us AMAZING hot apple pie and coffee….oh, and did I mention we could see the Golden Gate glowing through the rain right in front of us?! It was a very romantic evening!

The next morning consisted of a delicious breakfast on the porch, again facing the Golden Gate bridge and bay, and then exploring the rest of the grounds around the hotel and warf. It was a beautifully relaxing weekend and the perfect one night get away!
