We have a “Pet”

His name is Worman. He is a worm, and he lives here is this worm paradise carefully designed and collected by Liam.

Now, Worman would not be my first choice for a pet (I prefer fluff to slime), but upon returning home for the day, Liam and Daddy were so excited to share with me their new find and addition to our family.  Liam was very adamant about “shhh-ing” us because Worman was “shleeping” he said.  Apparently this worm sleeps a lot.  Oh, and he’s huge.  Lucky for him, Daddy found one of my larger mason jars….which is now officially the Hill Home Bug Collector, never again to contain canned goods.

It has now been a week since Worman has joined our merry troop, and I honestly don’t know if he’s still alive.  I’m not about to reach in there are feel around, especially after I’m pretty sure I saw him move faster than any worm should EVER move.

Liam gave the jar a nice shaking a few days ago, which resulted in Worman wriggling, and allowing us to know he was still alive, but I’m ready for this creature to be released back into the wild of our backyard.  The only problem is that is has been heavily raining and storming continuously for the past week, and sending Worman on his merry way into the now lake of a backyard would be considered Worm Murder….and I just don’t know I could carry that burden.

So, he sits.  Cozy on our shelf until the first bit of sunshine appears.  Then it’s Goodbye Worman.

The adventures of a Mother of boys.
