Welcome Lil’ Liam!!

Finally after 9 months of stretchy pants, midnight cheeseburger runs and bumping my rather large bump into doorways, our little bundle of joy Liam Cooper arrives into the world; and BOY we couldn’t be happier!
This is what our 28 hours of labor at Kaiser Modesto included: 1 bag of water breaking, 3 inductions, 2 cups of horrible jello, 10 minute contractions thus leading to 2 epidurals (cause the first didn’t work), 2 false alarm calls of “its almost time,” 1 tired and yet incredible husband, 75 minutes of pushing, 1 Code Blue, and 2 nurses jumping on my bed to push on my stomach. All leading to our beautiful, and yet surprisingly large, 10 pound 5 ounce 23 inches long bouncing baby boy! WHEW! And yet I would do it all again in a heart beat!
Finally after 3 days in the hospital, we were finally ready to come home! It’s a scary feeling leaving and realizing that this fragile little human is now completely dependent on you. No more nurses, doctors and nice red call buttons to push. But hey, we must be doing something right cause we have kept him alive and healthy for 2 whole weeks!
It has been an interesting 2 weeks at that! Throughout your pregnancy everyone warns you of the sleep you will miss. So you sleep like crazy before hand and think “ah, it can’t be that bad.” Oh but it is. luckily Liam is starting to let go of his idea that a people are night owls….apparently some of daddy’s night habits were passed genetically.
Once we got used to living off of 4 hours of sleep, the challenge came of keeping a 10 pound baby fed! The doctor told us that Liam would eat about 2 ounces….whose Liam is he talking about, cause that is just an appetizer where our kid is concerned! Lets just say that it’s a darn good thing we have a Costco card!
For being just a newborn, our lil man is quite a strong one! The first 1/2 hour I had him on my chest, he was pushing himself up and looking around! Now whenever we are holding him, he will hold himself upright and look up at us! You’d think he was 3 months already!
Overall the whole experience has been amazing! And a miracle! God has blessed us with this beautiful baby boy that we love so dearly!

My Quote of the moment:

Cleaning and scrubbing will wait ’till tomorrow, but children grow up, as I’ve learned to my sorrow. So quiet down cobwebs! Dust go to sleep! I’m rocking my baby. Babies don’t keep. – Ruth Hamilton
