A Wonderful Birthday and 26 Years!

Today marked the 26th anniversary of my birth, and I had mixed feelings! At least the few wandering grey hairs I have laid low for the day! But the hubby made my birthday weekend absolutely wonderful!
Yesterday The minions stayed at Nana & Papa’s for the night and I managed to fit myself into my size 4 pencil skirt AND my wedding ring, both which I haven’t been able to fit into for over a year!! GO Mamas!

We stopped off for a romantic dinner and some yummy Italian food at Verona’s where we had the most yummy cocktail: A fresh basil n’ lemonade martini! It contained Cold house lemonade vodka, muddled cucumber, basil, triple sec and fresh lemon/lime juice. Even with the known ingredients, the hubby and I agreed that it would be one of those drinks that we would try to recreate over and over until we couldn’t see straight. So we will leave the genius mixing to Verona’s.

We then headed over Camp 4, our favorite wine cafe for dessert and wine. As we were pulling into the driveway, my brother-in-law & sister-in-law were also pulling in. I thought to myself, “How fun! They are on a date to!” We walk through the front door and sitting at one of the large tables were the in-laws and two other close friend couples. Again, I thought to myself, “What the heck!? Why didn’t they call us to hang out?!” They all then yell “Surprise!” and I realize, very shamefully that it was a surprise party for me! Apparently all the cold medicine I had taken that day had clouded my thinking because it still took me a couple seconds to realize what was going on even after they said “surprise!” I’m also blaming it on old age.
We spent the rest of the evening laughing and talking over delicious food, perfect selections of wine and the most amazing chocolate churro panino’s ever!
After we left Camp 4, hubby asked what I wanted to do next, and I was ALL ABOUT GOING TO BED! I guess that’s just part of getting older…I mean more mature…your totally okay with ending your night a little early for the chance to get just a little more sleep!

We spent today hanging out, Jerad doing some “birthday honey-do’s” and enjoying one last birthday dinner with family before we ended the night with lounging on the couch, watching Mad Men and eating black licorice. It was the perfect birthday weekend, I greatly appreciated all the love, wishes and blessings! I really do have awesome family and friends, and Jerad is the best husband ever! Always going the extra step to make sure I’m happy!

So here’s to starting off my 26th year with a bang…or maybe just a good night’s rest!

OH! This announcement deserves a blog post all of it’s own, (will come later) but I just can’t wait to share: JERAD BOUGHT ME A CRICUT MACHINE!!!!!!! I cannot express to you through words just how excited I am about this!! The crafty possibilites are endless, but more on that later!
