Ruffled Crepe Paper Christmas Trees

Recently my aunt, cousin, and her new baby girl came up from Ventura for a girls week! Since we love all things crafty, my mom thought it would be a good idea to have a new craft project to try. While perusing Pintrest, she came upon this beauty of an idea from the blog Creative Chaos: Ruffled Crepe Paper Christmas Trees! (please click on her link for tutorial!) How darling are these trees! We knew this was the project for us. So mom and I headed out to load up on crepe paper, tiny snowflakes and anything else sparkly we thought we just had to have!

Just like she said on Creative Chaos, “once you start making these trees, you will find yourself unable to stop.” My mothers dining room became a tree crafting workshop. We were officially addicted and our finger tips slightly burned…we decided to hot glue the ruffles instead of sewing them first. I got a little glitter happy with my first tree, and with using Elmers glue, turned it into quite the droopy tree….my suggestion is that if you decide to glue, use hot glue, and then sparingly use Elmers so your tree stays nice and fluffed!

Although sadly I do not have a picture of it, probably one of my favorite trees was the one my mom did! She alternated different colors of green crepe paper and then added tiny candy canes and sparkly tinsel! It was so bright and cheerful!

So if you find yourself itching for a good Christmas craft, I highly suggest making these cute trees!
